SCIAF Assembly 2014

Cathy McGrath from SCIAF (the Scottish International Aid Fund) came along to speak to the children about the work of SCIAF on Ash Wednesday. She showed everyone pictures of a family in Colombia who have been able to work and feed themselves because of the donations from SCIAF over the past years and the good work SCIAF do really hit home. The children discovered that £30 is enough money to buy a fish farm which can feed 10 families and that every penny donated really helps.  Two young girls from St Maurice's High also came along as they are hoping to achieve the Caritas Award by working for SCIAF. Each class now have a SCIAF box and we hope that St Machan's can raise a great deal over the coming weeks of Lent for this worthy cause.
