50th Anniversary Mass

On Tuesday 13th May Archbishop Leo Cushley visited St Machan's school to celebrate Mass with the children and staff.  The Mass took place in the school hall and helped us all to give thanks for 50 years of learning in the current school building.  Canon Conway, Father Tracey and Fr Murray concelebrated the Mass with the Archbishop.  Unfortunately due to the restricted numbers in the hall it was not possible to invite every parent along so parent representatives from the PTA and Parent Council came together with some former members of teaching and support staff who still have strong links with the school.  Canon Conway is hoping to say another special mass in June for all parents and families which willl be held in the Church itself.

At the end of Mass the Archbishop was presented with a beautiful picture of the Campsie Hills which was taken by one of our P6 pupils Finan.  He also received a monetary gift and a copy of the children singing on their Anniversary CD.

The theme of the Mass was Praise and Thanksgiving so the hall was decorated with images from the Psalm - All the Nations of the Earth.  Each class took a verse and did beautiful art work to decorate the hall with.  To see these images please visit the 'Galleries' section of the website.
